Do You Pay Zakat on Child Savings?
Scholars differ on whether children must pay Zakat. The majority view is that Zakat is due on a child's wealth if it reaches nisab.
If a child owns money or assets above nisab for one year, most scholars say Zakat is due. Parents or guardians are responsible for calculating and paying it on behalf of the child.
The Majority View
Children's wealth is zakatable.
Most Islamic scholars say that Zakat is due on any wealth that meets the conditions, including wealth owned by children. If a child has savings, inheritance, or gifts that exceed nisab for one year, Zakat should be paid from that wealth.
