Zakat on Cash and Bank Accounts

All cash and money in bank accounts is counted when calculating Zakat. This includes current accounts and savings accounts.

Cash and bank balances are zakatable wealth. Whether it's in your wallet, under your mattress, or in your bank account, if it's above nisab for one year, Zakat is due at 2.5%.

What Counts as Cash?

Any money you own. This includes physical cash at home, money in current accounts, savings accounts, and even foreign currency. All of it must be totaled when calculating Zakat. If the total is above nisab for one full year, Zakat is due.
