Zakat on Inherited Jewellery
Inherited jewelry is zakatable once you have owned it for one full year. The fact that it was inherited does not exempt it from Zakat.
When you inherit jewelry, your Zakat year begins from the date of inheritance. One lunar year later, if the value is above nisab, Zakat is due.
When Does the Hawl Start?
From the date you inherit it.
Your hawl (Zakat year) for inherited jewelry starts on the day you take ownership. This is usually when the estate is settled and the jewelry is transferred to you. Count one full lunar year from that date.
